HomeIn 2006, Martin and Bev Gosling began the compilation of the encyclopedia of Stickney's History. It came about out of curiosity while walking one evening as to how many of the houses in the village had acquired their names and what significance the name had to the actual building.
They compiled a list of all of the names of the properties and where possible, a list of their previous owners and their trade or occupation's. This was the focus of the initial interest, but soon it developed into extensive research of the many different aspects of the village.
The library of information held by Martin and Bev is an ever increasing one. It includes censuses; photographs; letterheads; almanacs; trade bills; church records; newspaper cuttings; slides; maps; books; village magazines; and microfiche.
Although Martin and Bev have actually done all of the research, none of the information could have been gathered without the help and cooperation of the local villagers. Many hours have been spent generating this mass of information, centered on a small Lincolnshire village. |
